One of my favorite charities is the Fresh Air Fund that helps boys and girls, six to 12 years old, who reside in low-income communities in New York City, to enjoy the experience of spending two weeks of life outside the city each summer.

I've just received this note from Sara Wilson of the Fresh Air Fund and I'm pleased to share it with you.

"Hi Merv

I wanted to write you a quick note to let you know that our 2010 Fresh Air Fund-Racers completed the NYC half marathon and raised an amazing $100,000 for The Fresh Air Fund! We are so thrilled and wanted to thank everyone who supported us by blogging and tweeting about this wonderful event. I've posted some photos onto our Facebook page here:

If you aren't a fan yet please become one. If you'd like to share this great news on Merv Sheppard’s Transplant Network again that would be excellent. Our twitter handle is @freshairfund. Please shoot me back the link if you do post so I can share it with the rest of the team.

Thanks so much,

Sara"
